The purse is beautifully constructed from hundreds of articulated silver toned links that drape like fabric while retaining the strength of finely worked metal. Its engraved floral frame and graceful clasp reflect the refined craftsmanship of the Art Deco period, while the gentle patina speaks to a life well lived.
Accompanying the purse is a small French rosary with carved bone barrel beads, an original Miraculous Medal centerpiece inscribed Ô Marie conçue sans péché, priez pour nous qui avons recours à vous, and a beautifully detailed crucifix bearing the IHS monogram crowned with thorns.
Although likely acquired separately during their lifetimes, together they evoke a familiar scene: a woman leaving Sunday Mass, her rosary quietly tucked inside her evening purse before continuing into the rhythm of ordinary life.
