An exceptionally ornate antique French rosary composed of softly luminous mother of pearl beads joined by delicate metal links and intricate filigree work. The larger pater beads are held within decorative petal shaped caps, giving the rosary an unusually elaborate, almost jewel like quality.
At its center is a beautiful openwork filigree centerpiece, followed by an extraordinary crucifix fashioned in the same lace like metalwork. The corpus of Christ is finished in a warm golden tone, creating a striking contrast against the darkened filigree of the cross. The natural patina and variation throughout speak beautifully to its age and devotional use.
The mother of pearl beads retain their gentle iridescence, shifting from ivory to soft silver and gold in the light. The rosary remains wonderfully tactile and intimate despite the intricacy of its construction.
